For Joey Spivey, Senior Learning and Development Specialist, community isn’t just a concept; it’s a way of life. Whether at work or in his personal hobbies, Joey thrives on connection. One of the most meaningful ways he finds that sense of belonging is through music. Joey sings in a small men’s choral ensemble called Vox, where rehearsals are about more than perfecting harmonies.
“Our ensemble rehearses for around two hours every Sunday evening — and blends musical work with personal connection,” Joey says.
The ensemble group gives Joey the opportunity to connect with people that have similar musical interests but diverse backgrounds and professions.
“It keeps me well rounded, expands my network, and has helped me form lifelong friendships around music — something so personal and powerful, and entirely separate from work,” he says.
Joey credits Wellabe for creating an environment that makes these connections possible.
“I have the time and energy outside of the office to pursue activities that are important to me. Can you imagine how tough it would be to rehearse on a Sunday night if you were dreading going back to work every Monday?” he says.
Social well-being comes from relationships that enrich our lives. Joey has found that through music and a workplace that values his whole self.
